Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
After a long wait, the time is almost here: August 29, 2019 debuts Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. The new massive land take place at Hollywood Studios, Disney World Orlando. This new land is going to be an experience like no other. Be sure to wear you comfortable walking shoes because it’s a whole lot of land to cover. In fact, it is the largest (roughly 14 acres) and most technologically advanced single-themed land expansion ever in a Disney park.
With so much to see and do on the planet of Batuu, here’s what you need to know…
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge (Two Phases):
Opening on two separate phases: phase one is scheduled to open on the grand opening day, August 29th 2019. At that time, you’ll be able to board and take control on the most famous ship in the galaxy, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Phase two: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the most highly anticipated, immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined, is set to open on December 5, 2019.
Welcome to Planet Batuu: Batuu is a far-flung destination with a remote outpost that was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but its prominence was bypassed by the rise of hyperspace travel. Village guests will be able to visit on Batuu a.k.a the "Black Spire Outpost". The name comes from the geographical formations around it.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (Opening August 29, 2019)
Height requirement: 38 inches
Enter into the cockpit of the fastest “hunk of the junk” in the galaxy. Take the controls of the Falcon in one of three unique and critical roles (a pilot, gunner, or flight engineer) as the ship shoots through outer space.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Opening December 5, 2019)
Height Requirement: 40 inches
You are placed right in the middle of an epic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. You’ll play in an active role in the battle against the First Order.
All throughout the land, you can expect jaw dropping moments
FastPass: As of now, no attractions in the new Star Wars land are included in the Disney FastPass+ system. However, Disney have announced they will continually evaluate operations and services in order to help provide a great Guest experience.
Guests will have the opportunity to interact with First Order Stormtroopers at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Find the fans favorite character from Star Wars, Wookie: Chewbacca, rounding up recruits for The Resistance.
Find Kylo Ren at the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu where he will “Interrogate the locals, seeking any Resistance sympathizers.”
Rey may be found wondering around the wooded outskirts of the village.
You can bet Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will have several unique items displayed for guests to purchase. What’s even more exciting is that Disney created everything specifically for Galaxy’s Edge. Be on the look out for the following shops: Savi's Workshop, Droid Depot, Dok-Ondar's Den Of Antiquities, First Order Cargo, and Resistance Supply.
Guests will be able to experience the new land’s of a large array of galactic food and drinks.
Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo
Hungry travelers can fuel up on galactic American cuisine grub at this local eatery in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Take a break to refuel and enjoy the music with a specialty cocktail drink.
Make a pit stop while preparing for your next mission and enjoy a savory grilled sausage and roasted pork wrap at this exotic meat stall.
Care for blue or green milk? No, really. Enjoy a refreshing drink that’s a favorite amongst guests. Exclusively to the Hollywood Studios version, enjoy your milk with alcohol (Blue Milk Cooler with rum or a Green Milk Cooler with tequila).
Kat Saka’s Kettle
Pop into this food stall and enjoy a sweet, savory snack made with popcorn.
